In Latvia one occupation power has replaced another. Latvian soldiers are taking every opportunity in an attempt to restore their country’s sovereignity. Meanwhile, young people keep falling in love in defiance of everything. A Latvian girl is caught in the crossfire of passion between a German officer and a Latvian private first class who has been sentenced to death for desertion. Can a woman love two men at the same time? Can a man in a face of death forgive his beloved for being unfaithful? The events of the film reverberate in contemporary life.
