A premier of a debut film of young director Reinis Kalnaellis “When apples roll” will be held on February 10th during the 59th Berlin Film festival. It will be screened at festival competition program in “Generation” section.
A seven minute animation “When apples roll” is a story of friendship and peace. It is about a cat who lives in an antique wood cabinet with his devoted friend Mouse. There is an apple orchard on the fringes of the old town. But this autumn, while Cat is picking apples, things turn out differently. All of a sudden a strange egg rolls into the orchard.
A colored pencil drawings on paper by designers Andrejs Prigicevs and Laima Puntule makes a really joyful film for children. Nice backgrounds and charming characters brings the viewer to the fairy-tale world of peace and happiness. A great sparkle to the film gives composer Karlis Lacis by his childish and frisky view of the film.
